At Ultralight Camera Solutions, many of our new products come from looking at what we already make and finding ways to give our customers more choices or from customer suggestions. Our clamp system is a perfect example. Different camera rigs and applications require different movement and adjustment, so one clamp doesn't always fit every situation.
We've expanded our cutout clamp lineup with three new options: the AC-CSBSK2, AC-CSSK-28, and AC-CSSK2-28.
All three are designed around our standard 1" ball system and provide the increased positioning flexibility that has made our cutout clamps popular for both underwater camera systems and professional cinema rigs.
The new AC-CSBSK2 fills the gap between our compact AC-CSSK2 and our longer AC-CSLSK2.
With 2" center-to-center spacing, the AC-CSBSK2 provides additional clearance while still keeping the clamp relatively compact. This extra room is especially useful with larger buoyancy arms and arms fitted with STIX buoyancy floats, where a standard-length clamp may not provide enough clearance for side-by-side arm positioning.
The double-cutout design provides up to 200° of side-to-side movement, letting you position arms, strobes, video lights, monitors, and other accessories at angles that can be difficult or impossible with a traditional clamp.
The AC-CSBSK2 uses our traditional 1/4"-20 coarse-thread knob and 316 stainless-steel hardware.
With its addition, our double-cutout clamp family now offers several lengths depending on the amount of clearance and reach you need:
AC-CSSK2 — 1½" center-to-center
Our most compact double-cutout clamp.
AC-CSBSK2 — 2" center-to-center
More clearance while keeping the overall size compact.
AC-CSLSK2 — 3" center-to-center
Additional reach and clearance.
AC-CSLXLSK2 — 5" center-to-center
Our longest option for applications requiring maximum reach and clearance.
The new AC-CSSK-28 takes our popular AC-CSF-28 fine-threaded 1/4"-28 clamp and adds a single cutout, providing up to 115° of side-to-side movement, making it easier to position an arm or accessory beyond the normal range of a traditional clamp.
For the AC-CSSK2-28, we made it a double cutout that provides up to 200° of side-to-side movement. This makes the AC-CSSK2-28 a great option for anyone who likes the articulation of our double-cutout clamps but prefers the feel and adjustment of a fine-thread clamp.
The 1/4"-28 fine thread also gives users another choice in how their clamp feels and adjusts. Compared with our traditional 1/4"-20 coarse thread, the fine thread requires more turns for the same amount of knob movement, allowing smaller and more precise adjustments when tightening or loosening the clamp.
Neither thread style is necessarily better. Some users prefer the faster adjustment of a coarse thread, while others prefer the more gradual feel of a fine thread.
One advantage of the Ultralight system has always been its modularity; as a result, you can combine arms, clamps, ball mounts, trays, handles, lights, strobes, monitors, and other accessories in many different ways depending on the application.
